UMI Perpanjang Masa Kuliah Daring dan Hadirkan Solusi Bagi Mahasiswa

Makassar, Cakrawalaide.com- Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI) perpanjang masa kuliah daring hingga 26 April 2020 karena kekhawatiran terkait peningkatan jumlah kasus positif corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) di Sulawawesi Selatan (Sulsel).
Menurut Wakil Rektor III, Prof.Dr.H.Laode Husen, SH, mengunkapkan bahwasanya ini adalah bentuk respons UMI melihat perkembangan situasi pandemi COVID-19 di Sulsel yang terus mengalami peningkatan.
Mengutip data situs tanggap Covid-19 terkait pasien positif di Sulsel, kini bertambah menjadi 50 orang. Dimana kesemuanya tersebar di seluruh rumah sakit di Sulsel dan belum ada yang dinyatakan sembuh dari penyakit ini.
Selain itu, Laode Husain juga menambahkan bahwasannya UMI tidak bisa memastikan akan ada penambahan waktu kuliah daring lagi nantinya atau tidak, dikarenakan harus melihat perkembangan situasi dan kondisi Covid-19 di masyarakat.
Sebelumnya, Rektor UMI telah mengeluarkan Surat Edaran dengan Nomor : 07/05/F.01/UMI/III/2020 tentang tindakan penangulangan penyebaran COVID-19.
Saat dimintai tanggapan mengenai keluhan mahasiswa mengenai tidak efektifnya kuliah daring (online), Laode Husain selaku WR III membenarkan hal itu, menurutnya masing-masing dosen sudah berkomunikasi dengan mahasiswa tiap kelas agar kuliah bisa berjalan efektif.
“Iya memang kurang efektif, akan tetapi dosen sudah melakukan komunikasi dengan mahasiswa setiap kelasnya, jadi ketika ada kendala mahasiswa bisa berhubungan langsung dengan dosen yang bersangkutan via telepon atau whatsapp. Banyak media yang bisa digunakan oleh mahasiswa karena mahasiswa kita kan canggih semua,” jelasnya.
Namun, dari pihak kemahasiswaan itu sendiri meringankan semua Civitas Akademika UMI dengan menghadirkan solusi, yakni bisa mengakses platform kampus [vclass.umi.ac.id] dan mengaktifkan paket “Ilmupedia” sudah bisa bebas akses 30GB selama 30 hari, khusus kuliah online.
Merasa diringankan, Fauzi Ahmad menjelaskan hal ini salah satu cara untuk membantu mahasiswa yang pertamanya mengeluh soal penggunaan kuota internet.
“Menurut saya, ini merupakan salah satu cara kampus membantu mahasiswa dalam kuliah daring, saya rasa ini membantu mahasiswa yang sebelumnya banyak mengeluh tentang kuliah online, bisa dibilang menggunakan data yang sangat banyak,” papar mahasiswa Ilmu Komukasi tersebut.
