Antisipasi Pandemi Covid-19, Turnamen Tennis Meja oleh UKM PTM UMI Ditunda

Makassar, Cakrawalaide.com – Lantaran merebaknya Covid- 19 (Corona virus Disease 2019), kejuaraan tennis meja se-Sulawesi atau “UMI Open Table Tennis Championship” mengalami penundaan hingga waktu tak ditentukan.
Kegiatan yang sekiranya dijadwalkan oleh Unit Kegiatan Mahasiswa (UKM) Persatuan Tenis Meja (PTM) Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI) pada 17 Maret 2020 ini.
Namun sehubungan dengan dikeluarkannya Surat Edaran dari Walikota Makassar, Kemendikbud, juga hasil rapat senat UMI, maka ada perubahan jadwal. Himbauan ini agar masyarakat mengurangi aktivitas di luar rumah sebagai upaya pencegahan penyebaran virus tersebut.
“Kami panitia dan anggota PTM UMI selaku penggelar kegiatan ini telah merapatkan dan mendiskusikan hal ini, dengan melihat kondisi yang ada saat ini, kami putuskan untuk menunda kegiatan sampai waktu yang belum ditentukan,” tutur Rachmat selaku panitia.
Penundaan kegiatan ini juga demi menjaga kesehatan dan kenyamanan dari berbagai pihak yang terlibat, mengingat kegiatan ini adalah kegiatan besar yang melibatkan banyak pihak.
Sementara itu, menurut Muhammad Rifki sudah ada beberapa pendaftar dari luar kota telah tiba di Makassar dan terpaksa hanya tinggal sehari lalu balik lagi.
“Peserta yang dari luar juga. Ada yang dari Palu nanti kami jemput di Bandara dan disiapkan tempat tinggalnya. Lalu bsok dia balik lagi,” ujar Rifki selaku Ketua Umum PTM UMI.
Rifky juga menyampaikan permintaan maafnya kepada para peserta yang akan bertanding dan berharap situasinya bisa normal kembali agar kegiatannya terlaksana secepatnya.
“Kami juga menyampaikan permintaan maaf kami yang sebesar-besarnya kepada para peserta yang seharusnya besok sudah mulai bertanding, semogah keadaan cepat membaik dan aktivitas yang tertunda bisa berjalan normal seperti sedia kala. Nantinya akan kembali kami sampaikan mengenai informasi yang terkait dengan kegiatan ini,” tutup Rifki.
