Demonstrasi Damai Berujung Drop Out 28 Mahasiswa UKI Paulus Makassar

Makassar, Cakrawalaide.com – Sebanyak 28 Mahasiswa Universitas Kristen Indonesia Paulus (UKIP) Makassar dinilai mengalami kekerasan akademik berupa pemberhentian masa studi atau Drop Out (DO) dari kampus UKI Paulus, Jumat (24/1/2020).
Dihimpun dari berbagai narasumber, 28 mahasiswa tersebut diketahui diberhentikan saat mendapati Surat Keputusan (SK) Rektor Universitas Kristen Indonesia Paulus Nomor : 006/SK/UKIP.02/2020 tertanggal 24 Januari 2020.
SK pemberhentian tersebut dikeluarkan oleh pihak kampus UKI Paulus dengan alasan 28 mahasiswa telah melakukan pelanggaran berupa aksi unjuk rasa yang dinilai mengancam ketertiban dan keamanan kampus.
Nelson Sanda Karaeng selaku salah satu mahasiswa yang turut mengalami D.O, menyatakan bahwa aksi yang ia lakukan bersama mahasiswa lainnya adalah aksi damai, memprotes peraturan Organisasi Mahasiswa (ORMAWA) UKI Paulus.
“Pada saat kami aksi adalah aksi yang damai. Kami tidak merusak fasilitas, kami hanya menyampaikan pendapat kami,” jelas Ketua Himpunan Mahasiswa Manajemen itu.
Lebih lanjut, Nelson menyesalkan keputusan dari pimpinan kampus secara tidak berdasar yang diterimanya.
“Masalah D.O yang sekarang kami hadapi adalah tindakan yang tidak mempunya landasan kuat karena kami di D.O hanya persoalan demonstrasi,” tambahnya.
Selain itu, Alexandrio Pontoh selaku Ketua Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa (BEM) Fakultas Ekonomi (FE) UKI Paulus yang juga turut menerima sanksi, menilai bahwa keputusan ini sepihak dan merupakan upaya kampus menutup masalah yang sedang terjadi.
“Kami semuanya tidak pernah didengar oleh pihak birokrasi, mereka menutup diri terhadap kami mahasiswa. Kami tidak pernah didengar dan aturan-aturan yang dibuat oleh pihak birokrasi, mementingkan kepentingan mereka sendiri dan tidak pernah melibatkan mahasiswa dalam pengambilan keputusan,” terangnya.
Ia juga menambahkan keputusan sepihak bisa dibuktikan dengan dibatalkannya kesepakatan dialog tanpa melibatkan mahasiswa.
“Sudah 2 kali surat yang dikeluarkan oleh birokrasi untuk dialog, tetapi tidak pernah terlaksana,” tambah Rio sapaan akrabnya.
Sebelumnya, telah terjalin kesepakatan antara mahasiswa dan pihak kampus UKI Paulus untuk menindaklanjuti tuntutan mahasiswa dalam bentuk dialog. Namun, kesepakatan tersebut dibatalkan oleh pihak kampus dengan alasan salah satu pihak yang diminta oleh mahasiswa untuk turut hadir dinilai tidak memiliki hak oleh pihak kampus.
