Duka Selembar Surat Dari Rektor
23 Juni adalah tanggal dimana Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI) memanjangkan nafas kehadirannya. Di Tahun 2018, memasuki usia ke-64.
Kampus hijau julukan kampus pergerakan tersebut telah membumi selama 64 tahun, tiap jengkal usianya melahirkan para penerus-penerus bangsa, dan negara. Para penerus yang memiliki mimpi besar terhadap negerinya, para penerus yang pernah berkorban demi kemajuan negara, para penerus yang berdiri atas nama kemanusiaan dan para penerus yang setia pada idealismenya.
Telah tua sudah perguruan ini. Yah, lazimnya jika diukur dengan ukuran hidup seorang manusia. Bukan perkara mudah agar kampus ini tetap eksis ditengah zaman yang makin pesat melesat menjauh meninggalkan orang-orang yang tak pernah ingin maju.
Siapa yang tak ingin maju? Yah, semua orang ingin maju. Tak ada yang ingin berdiam diri, Semua ingin melangkah.
Tetapi kemanakah langkah itu?, Apakah dia mundur atau dia maju? Aku tak tahu kemana rektor dan para jajarannya menahkodai Perguaruan ini dan aku tak tahu kemana pula para mahasiswanya mengarahkan perguruannya ini. Apakah mereka selaras? Aku rasa mereka saling bertolak belakang.
Mengapa aku mengatakan hal tersebut? Iya, masih banyak suara sumbang dari sahabat seperjuangan terhadap kondisi yang terjadi pada kampus ini.
Kemajuan dalam hal akreditasi bukanlah hal yang perlu dibaggakan, toh apa guna Akreditasi, jika yang keluar tidak mencerminkan nilai perguruannya. Karena apa yang ditanam, itulah yang tumbuh.
Aku memikirkan UMI sebagaimana aku adalah mahasiswanya, menjelma menjadi rahim Ibu yang melahirkan peradaban yang memanusiakan manusia. Sebagaimana UMI menjadi ruang retasan manusia menuju peradaban yang lebih menghargai bagaimana seharusnya pendidikan dihadirkan dalam kehidupan, bagaimana mengimplementasikan kehidupan bernegara yang baik, dan benar sesuai kaidah beserta aturan-aturan yang berlaku, sebagaimana pandagan hidup negara yang ditanamkan kedapa rakyatnya.
Aku melihat demokrasi yang cacat, demokrasi yang buntung karena beberapa dari mereka anti terhadap kritik. Mereka seakan menganggap mahasiswa yang kritis dan mempunyai mimpi yang besar adalah hama yang perlu dihabisi dengan segera agar mahasiswa-mahasiswa yang merupakan anak emasnya tak terjangkit virus. Berpikir maju dan kritik dalam kampus adalah virus, dan sebagaimana birokrasi memiliki obat ampuh, yakni Drop Out, dan Skorsing. tak butuh resep dari Fakultas Kedokteran dan tak perlu pertimbangan dari Fakultas Hukum apalagi perhitungan dari Fakultas Ekonomi.
Aku juga melihat mereka yang selalu mengajarkan mengenai pentingnya kejujuran tetapi mereka tidak mencerminkan apa yang mereka ajarkan. Yah, transparansi anggaran adalah salah satu poin yang harus terealisasi.
Tak perlu berliku mengetahui pada aturan mana perihal tersebut diatur, tetapi cukup mengetahui akan perihal pentingnya suatu tanggung jawab. Apalah aku menulis hal-hal semacam begini yang masih berstatus mahasiswa Strata 1 (S1), kepada mereka -mereka yang notabenenya berada diatasku, tetapi jika pada nyatanya aku lebih paham, seharusnya aku lebih pantas diposisi mereka. Iya? Yaiyalah, aku kan lebih paham.
Banyak teman-teman yang aku lihat dari hasil mata kepalaku sendiri bersedih hati menerima perihal “surat cinta” dari Rektor yang mengharuskan dirinya angkat kaki dari kampus hijau ini atau sekedar rehat sejenak karena menyuarakan hak-hak mereka pada kampus. Jangan tanya mengapa mereka menyuarakan hak-haknya dan jangan pula heran. Mengapa? Karena mereka telah memenuhi kewajibannya. Sekali lagi jika kalian bertanya dan membenarkan perihal surat cinta tersebut maka seharusnya anda yang membaca ini bersedih hati dan miris terhadap diri sendiri karena mengetahui aku lebih maju dari kalian. Harusnya kalian lebih banyak keluar dari segala omong kosong kampus yang mengharuskan kalian menjadi robot, dan patuh dan mulai berbicara selayaknya dan sebagaimana kalian adalah manusia yang berpendidikan.
Aku siapa? Itu tak penting. Terlalu repot hanya mencaci maki perkataan seseorang dengan segala persepsi yang kalian miliki. Mulailah berpikir akan kemajuan dan menciptakan keberadaban yang memanusiakan manusia dengan segala daya dan upaya yang kalian miliki.
Tak perlu takut akan kata radikal, radikal adalah posisi terendah untuk mencapai ketinggian maksimal yang akan tergapai. Menggapai apa? Revolusi. Revolusi pada dunia pendidikan agar kembali kepada “mencerdaskan kehidupan bangsa” bukan yang malah “memiskinkan kehidupan bangsa”.
