Setelah film “Ngenes” yang rilis pada tahun 2015, “Cek Tokoh Sebelah” 2016, dan “Susah Sinyal” pada 2017. Ernest Prakasa kembali menyutradarai sebuah film bergenre komedi, berjudul “IMPERFECT : Karier, Cinta, dan Timbangan”.
Film ini diadaptasi dari buku yang ditulis langsung oleh sang istri, Meira Anastasia. Imperfect bercerita tentang seorang perempuan bernama Rara (Jesicca Mila) yang lahir dan besar dengan tubuh gemuk, kulit sawo matang, dan rambut tebal berombak mengikuti gen sang ayah. Di sisi lain, Rara mempunyai seorang adik perempuan, bernama Lulu (Yasmin Napper) yang justru memiliki tubuh langsing, kulit putih, dan rambut lurus mengikuti gen ibunya, Debby (Karina Suwandi) dengan tubuh bak model.
Rara merupakan salah satu pegawai biasa, di Perusahaan Kosmetik, dipenuhi dengan perempuan cantik berbadan ideal berdasarkan konstruk “Kapitalisme”. Karena memiliki tubuh yang dianggap tidak ideal, Rara sering kali mendapat perlakuan tidak menyenangkan dari teman-teman di kantornya. Hal tersebut tidaklah membuat Rara berkecil hati, karena begitu mencintai pekerjaannya.
Beruntung Rara memiliki pacar bernama Dika (Reza Rahadian), kekasih yang mencintai ia apa adanya. Dika sendiri bekerja sebagai fotografer majalah.
Semua berubah, ketika Rara mendapat peluang untuk naik jabatan di kantor tempatnya bekerja. Namun, bosnya yaitu Kelvin (Dion Wiyoko), memaksa Rara untuk mengubah total penampilannya, jika ingin menjadi manejer. Dengan alasan, pengetahuan tidaklah cukup untuk menjadi manejer sehingga menurut bosnya, penampilan juga perlu berjalan seiringan.
Konflik batin mulai terjadi di sini. Ketika Rara harus memilih berubah atau tetap dengan penampilannya. Tentu keduanya memiliki konsekuensi masing-masing. Rara diperhadapkan dengan pilihan yang sulit. Tidak hanya di kantor, rumah pun menjadi lingkungan yang tidak nyaman untuk Rara karena sejak dahulu dia selalu dibeda-bedakan dengan sang adik, persoalan penampilan dan fisik.
Akhirnya, Rara memutuskan untuk mengikuti kemauan bosnya. Mengubah penampilan agar diberikan tanggung jawab yang dimaksud. Juga mengikuti saran sang ibu. Rara mulai berolahraga, menjaga pola makan, sampai belajar berdandan dari sang adik.
Setelah sebulan, akhirnya Rara berhasil menurukan berat badannya dan menjadi cantik seperti perempuan lain di kantornya. Rara berharap akan mendapatkan kebahagiaan setelah ini. Mengharap dihargai, dianggap keberadaannya, dan yang paling terpenting adalah tentunya mendapatkan jabatan yang telah dijanjikan oleh bosnya.
Apakah Rara akan bahagia setelahnya?
Kelebihan :
Melihat realita sekarang ini, dimana masyarakat selalu menjadikan fisik seorang perempuan sebagai objek lelucon, objek penilaian baik buruknya, dan layak tidaknya. Film ini memberikan gambaran luas mengenai cara menerima fisik kita, apapun bentuknya. Mengajak kita untuk bersyukur dan memberi pesan bahwa tidak selamanya menjadi cantik berdasarkan standarisasi masyarakat, itu kemudian memberikan jaminan kebahagiaan seseorang.
Selain itu fim ini mengajak kita untuk merakyat. Dimana dalam film ini Rara menjadi seorang pengajar tanpa upah untuk anak-anak jalanan yang tidak mendapat kesempatan untuk merasakan nikmatnya pendidikan di bangku sekolah formal. Menjadi manusia yang peduli dengan lingkungan sosial.
Tidak hanya itu, film ini juga membawa kita terhanyut dengan konfliknya sampai kita tidak sadar telah meneteskan air mata. Pemeran dalam film ini juga memerankan perannya masing-masing dengan sangat baik.
Kekurangan :
Menurut saya, kekurangan film ini pada penyajiannya. Rara besar dalam keluarga yang serba berkecukupan, meskipun keluarganya juga ikut terlibat dalam tindakan body shaming. Namun, Rara tetap mendapatkkan dukungan materi. Rara bisa merubah segalanya dengan cepat kalau ia mau. Bagaimana jika seseorang yang tidak seberuntung Rara misalnya. Hidup dalam keluarga sederhana ditambah lagi streotype lingkungan masyarakat. Bullying yang didapati tentu bakal seperti ini, “Sudah jelek, miskin lagi!”.
Hal-hal seperti ini yang kurang dipikirkan oleh sutradara dalam membuat film ini. Karena kita tidak bisa memungkiri bahwa konstruk masyarakat sangatlah kuat .
Selain itu, pesan-pesan kecil dari film ini yang disajikan dalam bentuk komedi sehingga tidak terlalu sampai kepada penonton. Jadinya kita hanya tertawa, padahal ada maksud dari lelucon itu.
Kesimpulan :
Body shaming adalah tindakan mengejek atau berkomentar terhadap keadaan fisik seseorang. Umumnya, bentuk dan ukuran tubuh seseorang yang dijadikan sasaran berkomentar, baik dalam bentuk tersirat maupun tersurat. Bercanda maupun sekadar basa-basi.
Film ini memberikan gambaran tentang bagaimana body shaming dianggap hal yang biasa tanpa memikirkan bagaimana perasaan seseorang. Memaksa perempuan untuk tidak menjadi diri sendiri. Memilih pun tidak bisa karena perempuan membutuhkan pekerjaan misalnya. Karena kapitalis telah membuat semuanya berjalan seolah semua memang seperti itu adanya, sehingga sulit untuk keluar dari zona konstruk sosial tersebut.
Kita bisa merubah konstruk itu mulai dari diri sendiri dulu, kemudian memberikan pemahaman kepada orang-orang terdekat. Sangat direkomendasikan untuk ditonton, sebagi bahan merefleksi diri. Pesan paling penting dalam film ini adalah mengubah “Insecure” menjadi “Bersyukur”.
Tidak peduli bagaimana bentuk tubuhmu, warna kulitmu, dan jenis rambutmu. Orang lain tidaklah berhak menetukan standar kecantikanmu menurut mereka. Pada dasarnya, manusia diciptakan secara beragam, memiliki keunikan masing-masing, dan mempunyai kelebihan serta kekurangan pun masing-masing.
Jadi semua perempuan adalah cantik berdasarkan versinya masing-masing. Jangan lupa juga, kunci kebahagiaan adalah bersyukur untuk segala sesuatu yang telah Tuhan berikan.
