Kongres PPMI Nasional XV Usai, Sekjend Terpilih : Persma Harus Siap Melawan Represi

Madura, Cakrawalaide.com – Kongres Nasional Perhimpunan Pers Mahasiswa Indonesia (PPMI) ke-XV telah usai dan menghasilkan Sekretaris Jendral (Sekjend) Nasional yang baru.
Kegiatan ini berlangsung selama enam hari, sejak 12-17 Februari, yang dikemas dengan tema “Memperkokoh Militansi Pers Mahasiswa di Bawah Tekanan Oligarki,” di Vihara Avalokitesvara, Candi Utara, Polagan, Galis, Pamekasan.
Kongres kali ini tidak hanya menentukan siapa nahkoda PPMI untuk periode 2020-2021. Namun, juga diisi beberapa rangkaian acara, seperti bincang jurnalistik mengenai bagaimana mestinya lembaga pers mahasiswa (LPM) dalam meliput kasus kekerasan seksual, workshop jurnalisme sastrawi dengan menghadirkan Andreas Harsono sebagai pengampu, pameran karya jurnalistik dari tiap-tiap LPM, serta sarasehan dan pentas budaya saat penghujung acara.
Senin (17/02), Made Aristya Kerta Setiawan Sekjend PPMI Dewan Kota (DK) Bali terpilih sebagai Sekjend Nasional setelah mengalahkan dua kandidat lainnya secara telak dengan perolehan 34 suara. Sementara dua pesaingnya, yakni Zulfar dari DK Pekalongan dengan 5 suara dan Yeyen dari DK Kediri 4 suara, dari total 43 suara LPM yang memilih.
Dodek sapaan akrab Sekjend, berharap
kedepannya PPMI Nasional, bisa menjadi wadah berhimpun untuk mewujudkan solidaritas antar berbagai LPM se-Indonesia dalam menghadapi represifitas.
“Semogah benar-benar menjadi wadah untuk menyuarakan kebenaran akan pers mahasiswa. Perhimpunan ini kan dibentuk agar menyambung tali-tali agar kita semakin kuat untuk menghadapi semacam represi yang sering dialami lembaga pers mahasiswa,” harapnya.
Selain itu, Dodek menilai penting untuk meningkatkan mutu jurnalisme dan budaya literasi di kalangan Persma.
“Mengembangkan literasi itu sendiri penting. Jadi, ranah advokasi dan ranah literasi itu sama penting,” tutur alumnus Kalabahu LBH Bali tersebut.
Dodek terpilih menggantikan Rahmat Ali atau Maheng dari DK Jogja sebagai Sekjend periode kepengurusan 2018-2019.
Sebelumnya, sebagaimana dilansir dari persma.org Badan Pekerja (BP) Advokasi PPMI mencatat ada 58 jenis represi dari 33 kasus represi terhadap Persma selama rentang waktu 2017-2019. Jenis represi yang paling sering dialami adalah intimidasi dengan jumlah 20 kali. Berikutnya ada pemukulan [delapan kali], ancaman drop out (DO) [empat kali], kriminalisasi [empat kali], dan penculikan [tiga kali].
Ada juga penyensoran berita, ancaman ditahannya dana kemahasiswaan, pembubaran aksi, pembekuan organisasi, kekerasan seksual, serta ancaman pembunuhan yang masing-masing tercatat pernah terjadi sebanyak dua kali. Selain itu, ada satu kali represi jenis penyebaran hoaks, pencabutan tulisan, ancaman perusakan sekretariat, pembubaran diskusi, pemecatan anggota, peleburan organisasi, dan perundungan.
Belajar dari kasus-kasus tersebutlah, Sekjend PPMI Nasional mengambil sikap untuk lebih siap kedepannya dalam menghadapi represi.
“Setiap DK itu harus siap untuk melakukan pengadvokasian dan bersolidaritas ketika terjadi represi terhadap Persma,” tegas Dodek.
Sementara itu, menurut Parle selaku BP Advokasi PPMI Nasional yang diusung dari DK Makassar, menjelaskan bahwa kedepannya BP Advokasi akan fokus untuk membangun penyadaran ke Persma soal kondisinya secara umum yang sangat rawan akan represi.
“Sebagai langkah preventifnya kita akan maksimalkan soal bacaan dan diskusi-diskusi atau kelas soal langkah-langkah pengadvokasian dengan memaksimalkan jajaran struktural BP Advokasi di tiap kota,” jelasnya.
Menurutnya langkah awal yang bakal dilakukan terlebih dahulu adalah sosialisasi. Sembari terus bergerak mendorong persatuan Persma agar dapat menyikapi masalah represi secara bersama.
“Solidaritas menjadi kunci untuk menang melawan represi, cukuplah kekalahan Suara USU menjadi luka sejarah atas kekalahan kita karena lemahnya persatuan dan solidaritas antar LPM,” ujar mahasiswa UMI Makassar itu.
“PPMI itu organisasi bottom up, jadi kalau ditanyain PPMI itu apa? Yah, jawabnya PPMI itu kita [Persma] semua. Jadi keterkaitannya soal represi, secara filosofisnya kita berhimpun itu memiliki tujuan politik dalam mewujudkan iklim demokrasi yang sehat khususnya dalam kampus dan secara umum di kehidupan masyarakat,” pungkasnya.
