Kuliah Online UMI Belum Efektif, Mahasiswa Tuntut BPP Dikembalikan

Makassar, Cakrawalaide.com – Beberapa Universitas di Sulawesi Selatan (Sulsel) telah mengeluarkan instruksi terkait pencegahan penyebaran corona virus diseases 2019 (COVID-19), salah satunya dengan menerapkan kuliah online atau SFH (Study From Home). Namun hal ini banyak menuai kritik dari mahasiswa karena dianggap kurang efektif.
Sejumlah mahasiswa di Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI) mengeluhkan kuliah online ini lantaran membutuhkan banyak kuota internet, terkadang sinyal kurang stabil sehingga visual kadang hilang, maka materi yang disampaikan dosen pun tidak ditangkap baik oleh mahasiswa. Selain itu, terlalu banyaknya tugas yang dibebankan kepada mahasiswa.
“Menurut saya kuliah online ini kurang memuaskan bagi mahasiswa dikarenakan proses belajar mengajar melalui beberapa aplikasi, seperti Zoom atau Whatsapp sangatlah tidak efektif dikarenakan situasi jaringan yang berubah-ubah, kadang baik kadang buruk sehingga saya susah memahami materi yang disampaikan dosen apalagi ditambah banyaknya tugas, padahal materinya belum sepenuhnya dipahami,” ungkap Muh. Akbar Rifky, mahasiswa UMI jurusan Ilmu Komunikasi, Selasa (31/3/2020).
Selain itu, Akbar sapaan akrabnya juga menilai pembayaran BPP (Biaya Penyelenggaraan Pendidikan) telah ia lunasi, akan tetapi tidak mendapatkan fasilitas yang baik dari pihak universitas, sehingga ia berharap agar BPP dapat dikembalikan meski tidak sepenuhnya.
“Yang menjadi masalah sekarang itu ialah uang BPP kita ini, dimana kita sudah melunasi pembayaran, tapi kita tidak bisa memakai fasilitas kampus. Jadi saya rasa uang itu untuk saat ini terbuang sia-sia saja, ditambah lagi ongkos kuliah online ini yang lumayan besar. Jadi saya harap uang BPP dapat dikembalikan walau Cuma 80 % saja,” harapnya.
Menanggapi keluhan dan kritik dari mahasiswa, Prof. Dr. H. Laode Husen selaku WR III UMI, menilai hal itu [BPP] sudah menjadi kewajiban dari mahasiswa, serta kampus tidak bisa mengembalikan karena menurutnya status kampus UMI adalah swasta berbeda dengan kampus negeri.
“Itukan sudah menjadi hak dan kewajiban mahasiswa untuk bisa kuliah. Kuliah itukan bisa bentuk online dan bisa saja hal ini terus terjadi. Mahasiswa punya juga hak dan kewajiban, seperti mahasiswa wajib membayar dan berhak ikut kuliah. Model kuliahnya itu bermacam-macam, seperti kuliah online dan sudah banyak perguruan tinggi menerapkan kuliah online sepenuhnya,” ujar Laode Husein saat dihubungi via telepon.
Kemudian, terkait metode pembelajaran kuliah online yang menuai kritik mahasiswa, Laode Husain, mengatakan dosen memiliki kebebasan dan tekniknya tersendiri untuk menyampaikan materi.
“Dosen itu punya teknik mengajar salah satunya sistem online ini dan itu bisa diberikan dalam bentuk tulisan dll, tergantung dosennya karena dosen itu memiliki kebebasan untuk memberikan materi dan untuk mahasiswa sebaiknya mengkomunikasikanya dengan baik,” tambahnya.
Berbeda halnya dengan Akbar. Andi Ainul Aftani, mahasiswa jurusan Ilmu Komunikasi tidak sepakat apabila mahasiswa menuntut uang BPP dikembalilan. Namun, ia menyarankan agar adanya subsidi kepada mahasiswa untuk menjalani kuliah online.
“Saya lebih menyetujui jika teman-teman mahasiswa menuntut adanya subsidi dari kampus karena memang biaya kuliah online ini agak memberatkan terlebih kalau perantau, tapi kalau minta BPP dikembalikan saya rasa tidak perlu karena kampus masih memberikan kuliah walau melalui sistem online,” pungkas Ainul.
