Layang-Melayang : Seni Menggugat Modernisme dan Individualnya Kota
Makassar, cakrawalaide.com — Ragam dan corak pembangunan, pertumbuhan ekonomi perkotaan yang semakin “gila”, ternyata harus mengorbankan sisi lain kehidupan. Pertumbuhan ekonomi yang terus digenjot memerlukan tingginya sisi konsumtif masyarakat. Hal ini punya implikasi seperti persaingan usaha yang semakin tak terkendali, alam semakin rusak, dan lebih jauh lagi semakin sempitnya ruang-ruang interaksi sosial, sehingga manusia lari dari budaya, lari dari rasa kebersamaan dan gotong-royong.
Hal inilah yang menjadi dorongan isu UPKSBS-UMI dalam simulasi Layang-Melayang, Demonstration of Art yang diadakan Selasa pagi (11/03), di depan Fakultas Kedokteran UMI.
Tak terkendalinya pertumbuhan kota dan menjamurnya gedung-gedung tinggi juga merangsang individualisme manusia. dan menjadi penyebab merosotnya tradisi. Beberapa yang ditampilkan dalam Demonstration of Art ini adalah ragam permainan tradisional salah satunya layang-layang, sebuah permainan tradisional yang kini hilang dari pergaulan anak-anak masa kini.
Padahal corak permainan tradisional adalah semakin kuatnya interaksi antarmanusia, yang akan membawanya pada keakraban demi kesejahteraan bersama. Kini, selain permainan yang mulai menjajaki modernisasi, permainan semakin tak mendidik dan jauh dari nilai-nilai kebersamaan.
Pertumbuhan kota tak berpihak pada permainan semacam ini, kota tak memberikan kesempatan bagi apapun yang tak menguntungkan secara ekonomi. Kota malah mengakomodir segala kebutuhan permainan ini dalam sebuah industri permainan yang telah akrab di mall-mall dengan harga mahal. Hal ini malah menajamkan kesenjangan.
Diangkatnya isu ini tak lepas dari pemandangan dan suasana kota yang tak lagi ramah, privatisasi ruang publik disana-sini, penggusuran akibat ekspansi usaha, kemiskinan, sampah dan kemacetan, telah menjadi suguhan lain yang bersembunyi dibalik gedung-gedung tinggi yang berderet megah.
Dalam skala Kota Makassar, hilangnya ruang terbuka punya indikasi besar terhadap bencana yang sering terjadi. Pembangunan Karebosi misalnya yang kini menjadi tempat privat hasil perjanjian dengan sektor swasta, hal membuat resapan air semakin kurang dan banjir disegala titik kota, Ruang Terbuka Hijau (RTH) semakin sempit, sehingga kota menjadi tempat yang panas dengan segala macam polusinya.
Menurut Andreas, “diskusi yang menjadi pembahasan adalah pembangunan juga tingginya gedung-gedung dan terkesan elitis. Sehingga hal kecil semacam ruang-ruang publik seperti tepat bermain, semakin sempit malah semakin kurang”
