Mengenal Manfaat Pohon Pinus serta Dampak Buruk Bagi Lingkungan

Makassar, CakrawalaIde – Sebagian besar manusia sudah tidak asing lagi dengan objek wisata yang di penuhi dengan pohon pinus, di mana hutan pinus merupakan salah satu destinasi wisata favorit yang wajib untuk dikunjungi saat mageran di rumah, bosan, serta lelah dengan hiruk pikuk yang terjadi di perkotaan. Hutan ini menjanjikan keindahan pohonnya , asri dan sejuknya pemandangan yang ada serta tenangnya suasana yang akan didapatkan saat berkunjung ke tempat itu. Di tengah keindahan dan ketenangan yang di tawarkan oleh hutan pinus, ternyata pohon pinus memiliki ciri ciri yang agak berbeda dengan pohon lainnya serta pinus memiliki beberapa manfaat.
Nah, sebelum membahas seputar pohon pinus, apa yang kawan Cakrawala ketahui mengenai pohon pinus? Di balik semua keunikan dan keindahannya ternyata ada temuan bahwa pinus juga adalah benalu bagi tanaman lain dan lingkungan sekitar.
Pinus adalah tanaman dengan jenis Coniferous Evergreen yang merupakan pohon yang tumbuh membentuk kerucut dan memiliki daun berwarna hijau sepanjang tahun (tidak berubah warna mengikuti musim). Pohon ini berasal dari famili yang sama dengan pohon fir dan pohon spruce, yaitu famili Pinaceaedengan genus pinus. Di Indonesia sendiri, pohon pinus biasanya disebut dengan pohon tusam.
Pohon tusam atau pohon pinus memiliki kesamaan dengan pohon cemara, yaitu Kedua pohon tersebut memiliki batang pohon yang tinggi, berdaun lebat, dan rindang. Namun kedua pohon tersebut sebenarnya pohon tersebut tidaklah sama.
Secara mendasar perbedaan kedua pohon ini adalah pada tingginya. Tinggi pohon cemara mencapai 5 meter, sedangkan pohon pinus bisa mencapai tinggi hingga 40 meter. Bentuk daun pohon cemara dan pohon pinus sebenarnya mirip. Hanya saja, daun pohon cemara memiliki ruas lebih banyak dan strukturnya rapuh atau gampang putus.
Sementara itu, pohon pinus memiliki bentuk daun yang lebih panjang dan nyaris menyerupai jarum (needle). Dari segi batang, pohon cemara memiliki batang yang teksturnya tidak retak, sedangkan batang pohon pinus lebih kasar dan teksturnya retak-retak.
Kemudian, meski sama-sama memiliki bentuk kerucut, bila diperhatikan, pohon pinus memiliki bentuk kerucut yang lebih tidak beraturan ketimbang pohon cemara yang berbentuk segitiga.
Baik pohon cemara dan pinus, keduanya sama-sama dapat bertahan dimusim dingin. Hal ini dikarenakan keduanya memiliki akar tunggang yang kuat dan batang yang kokoh.
Bentuk daun yang hampir mirip (meruncing) dan warnanya yang selalu hijau membantu dalam menyimpan ketersediaan air yang dibutuhkan pohon agar selalu terjaga tingkat kelembapan yang hilang ketika musim dingin datang.
Pohon pinus sangat mudah beradapatasi, bahkan terhadap perubahan cuaca ekstrim. Beberapa spesies pohon pinus dapat tumbuh setelah kebakaran hutan terjadi. Sedangkan pohon yang sudah dewasa dapat beregenerasi dengan cepat. Kondisi tanah yang cocok untuk pinus, yaitu tanah asam, berpasir, dan memiliki serapan air yang baik. Kawasan hutan tersebut dapat ditemukan di daerah dataran tinggi dan bersuhu 18⁰ C hingga -3⁰ C.
Terlepas dari ciri cirinya, pohon pinus juga mempunyai beberapa manfaat seperti;
1. Kayu pinus
Kayu pinus merupakan salah satu kayu yang ringan, sehingga sangat cocok digunakan sebagai bahan pembuatan perabotan rumah. Selain itu, kayu pinus juga sering dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan baku pembuatan batang korek api, tiang listrik, kayu lapis, mainan anak-anak, dan kertas. Di pasaran, kayu pinus dijual dengan berbagai macam ukuran dan satuan bentuk, mulai dari batangan, lembaran, kubikan, hingga gelondongan.
2. Getah pohon pinus
Getah pinus sudah banyak diincar karena manfaatnya yang sangat banyak. Untuk mendapatkan getah tersebut, perlu dilakukan penyadapan pohon pinus untuk mengalirkan getahnya, baik dengan cara pengeboran atau hanya dikoaki. Setelah dikoaki, penyadap biasanya akan menaruh penadah, baik itu berupa batok kelapa maupun kaleng-kaleng kecil. Setelah wadah penuh, getah akan dipindahkan ke drum besar untuk ditampung dan siap diolah. Beberapa produk yang bisa dihasilkan dari pengolahan getah pinus ini antara lain adalah bahan campuran cat, tinta, sabun, vernis, pelapis ban, dan plastik. Selain itu, fraksi cair dari getah pinus ini dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan pengencer dan pelarut dan juga sebagai desinfektan serta minyak. Terlebih lagi, jenis getah yang dihasilkan pinus merkusii ini juga dapat diolah menjadi gondorukem dan terpentin.
3. Destinasi wisata
Selain pemanfaatan langsung dari pinus itu sendiri, adanya pohon-pohon pinus yang tumbuh tinggi menjulang membentuk kanopi juga bisa dijadikan destinasi wisata. Saat ini wisata semacam ini sangat diminati semenjak maraknya swafoto dan media sosial. Pemandangan alami hutan pinus yang ditambah polesan warna-warni payung dan ornamen lain akan sangat indah jika dijadikan sebagai latar foto yang mengundang banyak wisatawan untuk datang. Pohon pinus termasuk investasi masa depan untuk membangun negeri lebih baik lagi. Untuk itu setelah mengetahui ciri-ciri pohon pinus dan apa saja manfaatnya, penting untuk kawan Cakrawala agar memiliki kesadaran untuk menjaga kelestarian pohon pinus ini.
Namun di balik semua keunikan serta beserta keindahannya ternyata pohon pinus mempunyai fakta dimana pohon ini dapat merusak ekosistem lingkungan sekitar yaitu;
1. Sumber air
Hal tersebut telah berimplikasi pada munculnya masalah kekeringan pada musim kemarau. Anggapan tersebut didasarkan pada kondisi sebelum dan sesudah ditanami pinus, yaitu bahwa sebelum ditanami pinus sumber air masih tetap ada walaupun pada musim kemarau. Namun setelah ditanami pinus, sumber air tersebut banyak yang kering. Kondisi ini telah menyebabkan masyarakat setempat mempunyai keinginan yang kuat agar hutan pinus yang ada dirombak atau dikonversi menjadi hutan jenis lain. Berdasarkan penelitian diperoleh informasi bahwa persentase curah hujan yang diintersepsikan oleh tajuk tegakan pinus adalah sebesar 15,7%. Persentase tersebut lebih tinggi bila dibandingkan dengan persentase pada tegakan damar (Agathis loranthifolia) yang 14,7% dan pada tegakan puspa (Schima wallichii) yang 13,7%. Selain mengukur intersepsi, penelitian tersebut juga mengukur besarnya air tembus (throughfall) dan aliran batang (stemflow) pada ketiga jenis tanaman tersebut. Secara umum tegakan pinus mempunyai intersepsi, air tembus dan aliran batang yang lebih tinggi bila dibandingkan dengan tegakan damar ataupun puspa. Tingginya intersepsi pada hutan pinus menyebabkan kehilangan air pada tegakan pinus menjadi lebih besar..
2. Merusak tumbuhan lain
Keberadaan pinus di kalangan konservasionis sering dituding sebagai tumbuhan rakus air. Serasah daun jarumnya sangat lambat terdekomposisi dan mengandung zat alelopati yang menghambat pertumbuhan tanaman di sekitarnya. pinus membutuhkan bantuan mikroorganisme untuk tumbuh baik. Sebab untuk pertumbuhan pohon pinus membutuhkan jamur untuk Hal itu kemudian memerlukan tiga unsur hara penting, yakni nitrogen (N), fosfor (P), dan kalium (K). Ketersediaan tiga unsur ini memerlukan aktivitas mikroba.
Unsur N tersedia melimpah di udara, setidaknya 70 persen kandungan udara. Namun, N di udara tak bisa langsung dimanfaatkan tanaman sebelum diserap mikroba. Pemberian organisme mikro seperti jamur, bakteri, bahkan virus membantu pertumbuhan hingga merangsang perbungaan/perbuahan. Dengan banyaknya tumbuhan ini menghisap air maka tumbuhan yang berada di sekitarnya tidak dapat tumbuh karena kurangnya suplai air.
3. Bisa menyebabkan pneumonia atau radang paru yang mengancam jiwa.
Penelitian mengatakan, 35 persen dari orang yang disurvei mengalami gejala demam yang meningkat selama Natal. Dan sebagian besar disebabkan oleh pohon pinus, menurut jajak pendapat untuk Prevalin Allergy yang dibuat baru-baru ini.
Dijuluki `Sindrom Pohon Natal`, gejala termasuk hidung gatal, mata berair, bersin-bersin, batuk, dada sakit, lesu dan insomnia – dan bahkan menyebabkan pneumonia dalam kasus-kasus serius yang jarang terjadi.
Peneliti menemukan kondisi tersebut setelah mereka melihat peningkatan masalah pernapasan dalam minggu-minggu menjelang dan tak lama setelah 25 Desember. Para peneliti, dari Upstate Medical University, bagian dari State University of New York, menemukan bahwa ketika mereka menganalisis jarum dan kulit dari 28 pohon pinus yang digunakan sebagai pohon natal, mereka menemukan 53 kasus jamur.
Jamur ini melepaskan spora yang dapat memicu reaksi alergi pada orang yang rentan. Meski berlangsung secara alami, membawa pohon ke dalam rumah menciptakan lingkungan yang sempurna bagi jamur pinus untuk tumbuh. Studi lain menemukan, setelah dua minggu berada di rumah, jumlah spora jamur di udara yang berasal dari pohon pinus itu meningkat dari 800 per 35 kaki kubik menjadi 5.000. Tidak semua orang akan mengalami gejala-gejala bila terkena spora jamur ini.
Dr Lawrence Kurlandsky, yang melakukan penelitian, mengatakan dalam laporannya: ” Jika Anda dan anak-anak Anda tidak memiliki alergi, maka jamur pinus mungkin tiak akan mengganggu Anda. “Tim menemukan, jenis jamur dalam jumlah besar di pohon pinus – aspergillus, penicillium, cladosporium dan alternaria – adalah yang paling mungkin memicu alergi. Jamur secara alami ditemukan pada pohon-pohon pinus, tapi akan berkembang pesat ketika dibawa ke dalam lingkungan yang hangat di rumah-rumah. Tanda-tanda sakit karena pohon pinus adalah jika kawan Cakrawala tiba-tiba mengalami serangan asma setelah pohon dibawa di dalam ruangan. Atau jika hidung tiba-tiba mulai berair dan Anda bersin, meskipun Anda tidak merasa pilek.
