Peduli Lingkungan, Mahasiswa KKN UMI Daur Ulang Sampah Plastik

Jenneponto, Cakrawalaide.com – Mahasiswa Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) reguler angkatan 64 Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI) mendaur ulang sampah plastik sebagai wujud peduli lingkungan di Desa Marayoka, Kecamatan Bangkala.
Daur ulang atau suatu proses memanfaatkan kembali barang bekas pakai menjadi produk baru. Dengan memanfaatkan bahan bekas seperti gelas plastik merupakan program kerja mereka.
Salah satu mahasiswi KKN, Sulaiha, menuturkan bahwa sampah-sampah plastik yang terbuang, dapat diolah dan manfaatkan untuk sesuatu yang lebih berguna seperti lampion warna dari plastik.
“Sampah plastik seperti gelas-gelas yang terbuang sia-sia, seharusnya bisa dimanfaatkan untuk sesuatu yang lebih berguna misalnya jadi lampion dengan berbagai warna yang menarik” tuturnya.
Untuk pengerjaannya sendiri, sudah dimulai sejak 30 Januari 2020. Dimulai dengan pengumpulan sampah plastik, proses pembersihan sampai pada tahap menggabungkan plastik-plastik itu menjadi bulatan lampion, kemudian diwarnai sesuai keinginan. Ini berlansung kurang lebih 3 minggu dan berhasil diselesaikan hari ini (21/02) dengan total 12 lampion warna.
Sementara itu, Haeril Irawan selaku Koordinator Desa (Kordes) juga menjelaskan terkait daur ulang ini agar bisa menjadi wacana ramah lingkungan yang harus terus berkelanjutan dan telah disosialisasikan kepada masyarakat di Marayoka.
“Kami sudah berhasil ke masyarakat untuk sosialisasi terkait daur ulang ini, semoga setelah anak KKN pergi, kegiatan ini bisa terus berkelanjutan,” jelas Haeril.
Selain itu, Sirajuddin S.Pd selaku Kepala Desa Marayoka juga menyampaikan harapannya agar kegiatan daur ulang sampah plastik ini bisa dikembangkan seluruh masyarakat dan sekolah-sekolah.
“Harapannya semoga ini dikembangkan dan dimanfaatkan juga di sekolah-sekolah mulai dari yang muda sampai yang tua,” tutupnya.
