Penghujung tahun 2023, nampaknya merupakan perjalanan baru bagi kepemimpinan Prof. Basri Modding selaku rektor yang hampir menduduki dua kali masa jabatan. Selama kepemimpinnya, dari tahun 2018-2022 agaknya isu hingga berbagai polemik di tanah wakaf hampir tidak bisa menggoyahkan takhta seorang Prof. Basri Modding sebagai rektor. Justru yang nampak dari kepemimpinnya kala itu adalah akreditasi kampus yang terus di genjot, pembangunan kampus, hingga prestasinya dalam membangun citra ‘unggul’ UMI di publik.

Seolah menampikan berbagai tumpukan kasus, rupanya tuntutan ‘keadilan’ dari mahasiswa dan eksploitasi mulai dari ekonomi, pembajakan potensi terus digaungkan di mimbar-mimbar publik sampai-sampai kokoh, senyap tak bersisa kasus-kasus tadi.

Memasuki episode baru babak kepemimpinan Prof. Basri Modding, mulai tanggal 27 Juni 2022 bukan hal baru bagi mahasiswa Universitas Muslim Indonesia menyaksikan ketidakterbukaan kampus mengenai pengambilan kebijakan, pasalnya statuta yang menjadi pedoman peraturan dasar Tri dharma Perguruan Tinggi saja yang harusnya di beberkan ke publik utamanya mahasiswa di kampus UMI sendiri tidak di publikasi malah tersembunyi di saku birokrasi.

Hingga adanya berbagai macam regulasi terus di terapkan tanpa memperhatikan kemaslahatan bagi seluruh civitas akademik kampus seolah-olah dilibatkan, regulasi yang tanpa mempertimbangkan impact ke mahasiswa tadi di terapkan, & nampak telah mendapat persetujuan dan di aamiini berbagai kebijakannya.

“Sepintar-pintarnya bangkai ditutupi. Akhirnya akan tercium juga”

Pepatah lama ini seolah menggambarkan kondisi tanah wakaf yang hingga pukul 17.06 WITA tadi kacau balau. Sudah lingkup internalnya bingung hingga mahasiswa pun dikejutkan dengan edaran berita, “Prof. Basri Modding Dicopot Sebagai Rektor, Diganti Sufirman Rahman” tulis media Rakyat Sulsel di laman beritanya. Selang beberapa menit, dua surat edaran “Mahasiswa Diliburkan Sampai Waktu Yang Tidak Ditentukan” ditandatangani oleh Prof. Basri dan surat edaran “Perkuliahan Akan Tetap Berlangsung” yang ditandatangani oleh Prof. Sufirman Rahman. Uniknya kedua surat edaran ini di tanggal yang bersamaan dan dalam keduanya sama-sama tertera menjabat sebagai rektor.

Kekanak-kanakan! Dunia perpolitikan kampus yang sungguh membingungkan, lingkup tatanan atas saja masih bergelut dengan dualisme kebijakan, mahasiswa entah bagaimana arahnya dilibatkan pun tak ada, memprotes pun tak ditanggapi, padahal dalam UU No. 12 Pasal 4 Perguruan Tinggi keterlibatan mahasiswa adalah suatu hal yang niscaya untuk mengetahui sejauh mana fungsi perguruan tinggi tadi terlaksana.

UU No. 12 Pasal 4: “a. Mengembangkan kemampuan dan membentuk watak serta peradaban bangsa yang bermartabat dalam rangka mencerdaskan kehidupan bangsa; b. Mengembangkan Sivitas Akademika yang inovatif, responsif, kreatif, terampil, berdaya saing, dan kooperatif melalui pelaksanaan Tridharma.”

Bukan tanpa sebab, bukan menduga-duga mahasiswa sepatutnya curiga dengan keterkaitan kasus yang beredar sebulan lalu (Baca: https://www.detik.com/sulsel/berita/d-6919050/heboh-2-guru-besar-umi-makassar-diadukan-ke-komisi-etik-terkait-pungli/amp). Pungutan liar yang terus menggerogoti kantong mahasiswa ini menjadi salah satu isu yang terus mewarnai masa jabatan Prof. Basri Modding. Belum lagi drama-drama lainnya yang tertutup oleh citra baik kampus. Hingga tak terasa 1 tahun 3 bulan masa jabatan akhirnya takhta beliau goyah entah ini satu di antara drama-drama lanjutan yang akan datang?

Namun, melihat berbagai kasus yang tak ditanggapi serius hingga pengambilan kebijakan yang tidak melibatkan mahasiswa, tidak adanya transparansi sudah selayaknya kita merefleksi kembali aklamasi atau siapapun yang menjabat, jika corak kepemimpinannya cenderung otoriter dan tertutup maka patut dicurigai kasus dan isu-isu yang tak mencuat dipermukaan akan terus berulang.

“Berilmu Amaliah, Beraamal Ilmiah Berkhalakul Kharimah,” nampaknya tak lagi sesuai esensinya kalau-kalau dalam penyusunan regulasipun, perguruan tunggi tak mematuhi secara bijak pedomannya yakni keterlibatan mahasiswa hingga transparansi sesuai UU No. 12 Perguruan Tinggi.
