Hujan Bulan Desember masih sangat terdengar jelas, setiap tetesnya membawa kesedihan dan sebuah pengharapan. Kini aku berada di penghujung tahun 2020 namun pilu itu masih sangat terasa, tahun 2020 yang mengisahkan Bagaimana pandemi covid 19 mencengkram perekonomian Ibu Pertiwi dan memberi dampak pula pada sektor pendidikan. seperti halnya yang dirasakan para mahasiswa Universitas Muslim Indonesia yang berada pada titik ambigu antara melanjutkan kuliah atau meringankan beban orang tua dengan cara mencari pundi-pundi rupiah di tengah pandemi.
Namaku Fifa, Aku sedang melanjutkan pendidikan di UMI tepatnya di fakultas sastra Program Studi Ilmu Komunikasi. Sore itu matahari menyihsakan hujan sebelum ia terbenam di ufuk Barat. Riuh kendaraan menemani setiap langkahku menuju sekretariat unit kegiatan mahasiswa yang bergerak dalam bidang jurnalistik atau pers mahasiswa. Setibanya di sana aku menemui kawanku yang sedang duduk termenung sembari sesekali menyeruput kopi hitam di hadapannya, aku mulai mendekatinya dan menanyakan perihal keadaannya saat ini sebab tampak kegelisahan di raut wajahnya.
“Dul, bagaimana kabarmu? Tanyaku. Sembari membakar rokoknya Dul berkata “aku sedang memikirkan nasib dalam perjalanan mengejar cita-cita”.
Abdul merupakan salah satu mahasiswa semester akhir di fakultas agama Islam yang menempuh pendidikan di tanah rantau, aku dan Dul berasal dari daerah yang sama tentu hal itu membuatku semakin penasaran dengan keadaannya saat ini, aku mulai duduk di samping kanannya sembari mendengar keluh kesah Abdul sesekali menatap kedua bola matanya yang nampak meneteskan air mata.
Bibirnya nampak bergetar saat ia bercerita tentang masalah yang dihadapi keluarganya. “Ayahku, di-PHK dan aku berada di posisi dilema antara harus mengejar cita-cita atau mencari pundi-pundi rupiah untuk membantu kehidupan keluarga. Di sisi lain, hati ini masih berkeinginan mengejar cita-cita, tetapi kampus menutup harapanku dengan menagih pembayaran biaya perkuliahan yang menunggak di semester sebelumnya padahal saat ini aku berada di penghujung semester akhir, yang tentu saja memerlukan biaya yang cukup besar. Kemarin aku bersama kawan lainnya telah menuntut tentang kompensasi kepada pihak birokrasi tapi naas hanya potongan Rp300.000 yang di berikan kepada kami”.
Bagiku hal tersebut sangatlah tidak wajar dikarenakan pihak kampus tidak memikirkan orang tua kita yang terkena dampak ekonomi di tengah pandemi.
Setelah itu Alvin datang menghampiri kami berdua. Ia mengajak kami untuk menuntut kembali apa yang Dul perjuangkan kemarin bersama kawan lainnya. Kami bersepakat menuntut kompensasi yang wajar kepada pihak birokrasi, kami pun bersepakat bertemu di warung kopi. Setelah berbincang kami segera bergegas dikarenakan fasilitas kampus yang kurang memadai dan sebentar lagi rombongan satpam akan mengusir kami beserta mahasiswa lainnya. Sesampainya di warkop, kami melakukan perundingan tentang langkah apa yang digunakan untuk untuk menuntut hak.
Aku mengusulkan untuk melakukan seruan tuntutan di media sosial sembari meningkatkan kesadaran mahasiswa lain untuk bersama-sama memperjuangkan hak. Dengan memasifkan seruan tuntutan di media sosial para mahasiswa dari setiap fakultas bersepakat untuk turun kejalan di keesokan harinya tanpa memikirkan wabah yang kini menyerang Ibu Pertiwi. Sebelum kami turun ke jalan Alvin ditunjuk sebagai Jenderal lapangan, kesokan harinya kami berkumpul di depan kampus bersama mahasiswa lainnya. Tepat pukul 10. 00 Wita mahasiswa sudah siap dan menuju menara kampus UMI yang di mana para pemangku kebijakan duduk manis di ruangan ber-ac tanpa memikirkan nasib mahasiswa.
Sesampainya di menara UMI rombongan satpam berdiri tegak dengan wajah garang melindungi Rektor yang hendak menuju mobil hitam yang akan dikendarainya. Mahasiswa silih berganti melakukan orasi mengenai kebijakan yang dikeluarkan oleh pihak birokrasi. Tetiba Rektor menghampiri mahasiswa lalu berkata “aku Rektor disini kalau kalian tidak mampu membayar biaya kuliah silakan cuti atau pindah kampus”. Dengan wajah angkuh di hadapan para mahasiswa.
kemudian rombongan satpam mendorong para mahasiswa. sembari meneteskan air mata Dul memegangi toa lalu berkata “Ayah, orang tuaku tak mampu lagi membayar biaya kuliah aku. Dan keluargaku untuk makan hari ini dan esok Entah harus bagaimana, tulang punggung keluarga (ayah) kini telah di-PHK Di mana hati nurani kalian sebagai pemangku kebijakan (birokrasi)”. Sembari mengelus pundak Dul aku mengajak Dul bersama kawan lainnya untuk meninggalkan menara Umi sebab situasi yang kian mencekam. Di perjalanan pulang aku tatapi satu persatu wajah kawanku namun yang nampak hanyalah tangis pilu, sebab kampus UMI yang berdiri di tanah wakaf tetapi yang ada hanyalah ego dari para birokrat semata.
