BEM-FAI Bantu Mahasiswa yang Tak Mampu Bayar Biaya Kuliah
Makassar, Cakrawalaide.com – Menjelang hari kuliah perdana di kampus Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI) salah satu mahasiswa baru angkatan 2019/2020 Fakultas Agama Islam (FAI) prodi Hukum Ekonomi Syariah (HES), terancam tidak bisa melanjutkan kuliah karena faktor ekonomi.
“Mamaku itu tidak kerja, sedangkan bapak sudah meninggal,” kata ZA, Selasa (3/9/2019).
ZA yang identitasnya disamarkan juga menerangkan bahwa Biaya Penyelenggaraan Pendidikan (BPP) dan Sumbangan Penyelenggaraan Pendidikan (SPP) sangat memberatkan dirinya, disamping karena orang tuanya yang sedang sakit.
“Sebenarnya orang tuaku sedang sakit, jadi butuh biaya, tapi SPP dan BPP saja belum dibayar,” jelasnya.
Diketahui ZA tinggal bersama satu adiknya di rumah orang tua dari ibunya yang berprofesi sebagai tukang tambal ban di bengkel kecil, jalan Sarappo untuk biaya hidup sehari-hari.
“Untuk makan sehari-hari itu nenek yang kerja di bengkel sebagai tukang tambal ban, kalau kakekku sakit, sudah dua tahun lalu,” tambahnya.
Dilain sisi, Fahri fajar selaku ketua I Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa (BEM) FAI UMI sangat menyayangkan hal seperti ini bisa terjadi. Menurutnya, seharusnya pihak Fakultas bisa sedikit meringankan beban Mahasiswa yang terkendala masalah pembayaran karena faktor ekonomi.
“Sebenarnya hal ini sangat disayangkan dari kami pihak lembaga, karena kemarin-kemarin kami sempat mengira jika ada mahasiswa baru yang kurang mampu, bisa dibantu walaupun sedikit atau diberi keringananan,” ujar Fahri sapaan akrabnya.
Lanjut, Fahri menjelaskan pihaknya lansung menginisiasi untuk menggalang solidaritas untuk kawan ZA dengan turun langsung di salah satu lampu merah. Ia Berharap pihak fakultas bisa mengevaluasi kembali masalah yang menimpa salah satu mahasiswa baru FAI UMI tersebut.
Selain karena tidak sesuai dengan cita-cita kampus Islami juga melenceng dari nilai-nilai kemanusiaan.
“Kami lansung menggalang dana untuk membantu dan berharap semoga pihak fakultas bisa mengevaluasi kembali, karena cita-cita kampus yang menjadikan nilai Islam itu tidak sesuai lagi dengan yang terjadi sekarang ini,” tutup Fahri.
Lebih jauh, ZA juga telah mengupayakan untuk mengurus beasiswa binaan yang ada di UMI sampai menghadap langsung kepada WD II dengan menyodorkan beberapa sertifikat berprestasi namun hasilnya tetap nihil.
