Dari SIMAK Hingga SIMPADU
Makassar, Cakrawalaide.com – “Menuju world clas university” merupakan visi yang mulai digagas oleh Universitas Muslim Indonesia mulai tahun 2010 di era Rektor Prof. Masrurah Mokhtar. Hal ini memaksa UMI untuk terus berpacu dengan melakukan pembangunan infrastruktur maupun suprastruktur.
Sebagai salah satu Perguruan Tinggi Swasta terbaik di Indonesia bagian timur, salah satu metode yang digunakan untuk pembangunan infrastruktur adalah dengan menerapkan Kartu Rencana Study (KRS) yang menggunakan sistem online. “Saya melihat Universitas kecil di Sumatra yang telah menggunakan KRS online, apa lagi kita sebagai PTS terbaik di Indonesia timur” ungkap Prof Dr H Syahnur Said MS selaku Wakil Retor I ketika ditemui diruangannya.
Syahnur Said pun berasumsi bahwa di era teknologi seperti ini, untuk menuju world class university, KRS online adalah salah satu langkah yang mesti dilakukan untuk memapankan sistem berbasis teknologi dalam lingkup Universitas Muslim Indonesia.
Berbeda pada tahun akademik 2013/2014 yang masih menggunakan Sistem Informasi Akademik (SIMAK), untuk tahun akademik 2014/2015 UMI menggantinya degan Sistem Pelayanan Terpadu (SIMPADU). Hal ini dikarenkan SIMAK hanya munggunakan provider LAN yang hanya dapat di akses dalam lingkup UMI sedangkan untuk provider pada http://simpadu.umi.ac.id dapat di akses dari manapun selama masih ada jaringan internet. Syahnur Said pun mengungkapkan bahwa biaya yang dikeluarkan yayasan untuk penggunaan provider SIMPADU lebih murah dibandingkan dengan menggunakan provider SIMAK.
Mengenai tender lelang dan biaya tender untuk provider SIMPADU, Syahnur Said hanya mengatakan bahwa hal ini sudah di evaluasi oleh pihak yayasan dan untuk setiap program yang memiliki pembiayaan di atas 50 juta, maka pihak yayasan membuatkan tim pengawas pelaksanaan.
