Kebun Kecil dan Upaya Bertahan di Kala Pandemi Covid 19 [Foto Bercerita]

“Pandemi covid-19 mengincar banyak nyawa, tanpa terkecuali di Indonesia. Ribuan nyawa telah menjadi korban virus yang begitu mematikan ini. Di tengah situasi penuh ancaman, berbagai upaya dilakukan agar bisa bertahan dari virus yang tak kasat mata. Inisiatif kecil dari warga, saling membantu dan memberi menjadi salah satu upaya nyata agar bertahan dari incaran virus covid-19”
Wardah (43 tahun) mencoba menghidupkan kembali aktifitas berkebun warga perumahannya di kelurahan Sudiang Raya, Kota Makassar. Ia mengajak ibu-ibu kelompok arisan untuk melanjutkan kebun kecil yang pernah mereka buat. Di tengah situasi pandemi, ia berpikir untuk kembali memproduksi pangan mereka sendiri.
Sebelum pagebluk datang, di perumahan Pesona Alam Mas, tempat tinggalnya, para ibu-ibu pernah malakukan aktifitas bercocok tanam. Namun, kegiatan ini terhenti karena lahan yang mereka gunakan diambil-alih pemiliknya. Empat kali berpindah-pindah tempat membuat kegiatan bercocok tanam ini dihentikan. Kepastian lahan menjadi masalah utamanya.
Bagi Ibu Wardah, menanam kebutuhan pangan secara mandiri adalah salah satu cara bertahan di tengah pandemi. Terlebih, kegiatan ini bisa membantu kebutuhan dapur warga di perumahannya. Setelah diusulkan pada acara arisan, semua anggota menerima tawaran tersebut.
Salah satu warga merelakan tanahnya digunakan untuk sementara waktu menjadi lahan berkebun. Luasnya dua kali luas lapangan bola volley. Semak belukar menutup permukaan lahan. Dulunya, lahan ini menjadi genangan air saat musim hujan tiba.
Para ibu-ibu menanam berbagai jenis tanaman seperti; bayam, kangkung, sawi, tomat dan cabai. Sementara tanaman obat keluarga seperti kenikir, okra, telang dan bawang dayak.
Jika ibu-ibu menamam dan menyiram tanaman setiap hari, para suami serta pemuda perumahan mempersiapkan media tanam, membuat bedengan serta membangun rangka untuk penopang ranting tanaman menjalar.
Seiring berjalannya waktu, keterlibatan warga bertambah. Selain untuk memenuhi kebutuhan pangan, bercocok tanam menjadi wadah bersosialisasi dan mengisi waktu di tengah pandemi.
Setiap sore, para ibu-ibu datang ke kebun, membersihkan dan menyiram tanaman yang tersusun rapi di dalam bedengan dan polybag. Tak ada pupuk kimia, semua bahan yang digunakan adalah organik.
Hasil panen akan dibagikan kepada seluruh anggota tani dan warga perumahan. Memasak bersama hasil panen pun kadang dilakukan, semuanya dilakukan dengan riang gembira.
Tak banyak aktifitas pertanian di tengah kota, terlebih di Kota Makassar yang padat penduduk dan luas lahan yang semakin sempit, nyaris tak ada tempat untuk lahan pertanian, semua karena pembangunan.
Bercocok tanam bagi masyarakat kota, menjadi hal yang sulit dilakukan, sekali lagi karena lahan. Apa yang dilakukan oleh para ibu di perumahan Pesona Alam Mas menginspirasi banyak warga di tempat lain di Kota Makassar.
Tak ada kepastian sampai kapan Wardah dan para warga yang mengelola kebun kecil di perumahan Pesona Indah Mas akan bertahan. Pemilik lahan, bisa kapan saja mengambil kembali lahannya. Artinya, seluruh tanaman yang mereka telah tanam harus disingkirkan.
Namun, upaya warga bercocok tanam di tengah situasi pandemi adalah insiatif kecil tapi sangat berguna. Inisiatif ini muncul dari bawah, dari tingkatan warga yang saling membantu dan saling menguatkan di tengah pagebluk yang belum kita tahu di mana babak akhirnya.
