Cakrawalaide.com – Kami berdiri di sini memiliki arti bahwa penduduk asli Papua berkeyakinan kuat mereka ada di atas tanah leluhur mereka. Mereka adalah pemilik sah tanah Papua Barat, dari Sorong sampai Merauke. Tanah Papua diberikan oleh Tuhan kepada leluhur dan nenek moyang mereka. Orang dari luar atau pendatang tidak berhak untuk mengatur dan menindas orang Papua dengan alasan apapun dan atas nama siapa pun, termasuk atas nama NKRI.
Mereka tetap ada di tanah Papua pada saat situasi aman atau tidak aman, pada saat kelaparan dan berkelimpahan, mereka tetap setia berada di atas tanah leluhur. Kami berdiri di sini juga menjadi spirit perjuangan orang Papua untuk mempertahankan harga diri, martabat, dan hak asasi penduduk asli Papua di atas fakta-fakta kebenaran sejarah.
Pada Bab pertama buku ini berusaha menyadarkan pemerintah Indonesia, rakyat Indonesia, dan masyarakat internasional bahwa akar masalah yang terjadi di Papua bukanlah persoalan kesejahteraan (sandang dan pangan) melainkan status politik yang belum final dan masa depan penduduk asli yang telah dikorbankan melalui proses pengintegrasian Papua ke dalam wilayah Indonesia dengan penuh kekerasan dan kejahatan kemanusiaan.
Selain itu, dalam menghadapi perjuangan rakyat Papua demi keadilan dan kebenaran, pemerintah Indonesia menggunakan kekuatan Negara untuk menindas dan membantai penduduk asli Papua. Alasannya adalah bahwa status politik Papua sudah final yang dilakukan melalui Penentuan Pendapat Rakyat (PEPERA) tahun 1969 dan hasilnya telah disahkan melalui Sidang Umum PBB tahun 1969 dan diakui secara internasional.
Lanjut pada Bab II, kita akan diajak memahami bahwa masalah Papua adalah persoalan Internasional, bukan masalah internal Indonesia, karena masyarakat internasional terlibat langsung dalam upaya aneksasi Papua ke dalam wilayah Indonesia. Selain itu, Negara-negara anggota PBB juga mempertanyakan kondisi HAM dan menyoroti stigmatisasi, intimidasi, diskriminasi rasial, kriminalisasi dan kekerasan TNI/POLRI di Papua, seperti pemerintah Jepang yang menanyakan pelanggaran HAM di Papua oleh aparat TNI dan POLRI, serta berlangsungnya impunitas di sana. Kemudian merekomendasikan agar Pemerintah Indonesia segera menghentikan pelanggaran HAM di Papua dan memproses pidana para pelaku.
Berlanjut pada bab III membahas sikap para pemimpin gereja di tanah Papua yang secara konsisten menolak hasil PEPERA 1969 yang tidak demokratis dan mengusulkan kepada pemerintah Indonesia untuk membuka dialog damai dengan rakyat asli Papua yang dimediasi oleh pihak ketiga yang netral, lebih lanjut persekutuan Gereja-gereja di Indonesia menyatakan bahwa jeritan rakyat Papua mengenai berbagai persoalan kemanusiaan lainnya sebagai akibat dari kegagalan UU Otonomi khusus, serta memberi perhatian serius terhadap kritik-kritik yang disampaikan oleh gereja-gereja di Tanah Papua terhadap proses-proses pemerintahan, politik dan social.
Pada bagian bab IV sekaligus bab terakhir pada buku ini memberikan kesimpulan bahwa PEPERA 1969 dimenangkan oleh TNI dan pelaksanaannya tidak demokratis, di bawah tekanan, intimidasi, penangkapan bahkan pembunuhan terhadap orang asli Papua yang menolak digabungkannya Papua dengan Indonesia. Selain itu, pada bab ini juga memberikan solusi untuk diadakannya referendum ulang yang melibatkan semua orang asli Papua dan pelaksanaannya diawasi oleh lembaga independen internasional dan Perserikatan Bangsa-Bangsa.
